This project is a tribute to my grandmother, a highly skilled pastry chef who spent many years working as a baker. Often working independently with great dedication to create elaborate cakes, she never got recognized for it by anyone. Her living in Peru, while I am based in Switzerland, the project became a symbolic way for me to reconnect with her practice and honour her craft from a distance.Following her techniques, steps, and personal tips, I created a cake while documenting the entire process. The work takes the form of a video piece that captures the time, care, and patience involved in her method of baking.
